Former Metro Housing Department Director Indicted

The former director of Louisville's Housing and Family Services Department has been indicted on theft charges.Kimberly Bunton resigned from the job just over two years ago after the Courier-Journal raised questions about some $2,000 dollars in low-income housing assistance that her mother received from the city while Bunton headed the department.Both Bunton and her mother, Vicki Smallwood, are charged with two felony counts each of theft by unlawful taking over $300.The crimes are punishable by up to five years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.Mayor Jerry Abramson said in a statement that Bunton "made some poor decisions and violated my trust. Now the judicial system will decide whether she violated the law."

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
