Frankfort Christmas Tree To Be Lit Saturday

In Frankfort, the state Christmas tree is going up in front of the Kentucky State Capitol. The tree will be lit Saturday night. Workers have started stringing lights on the 28-foot Norway spruce, donated by Tom and Marilyn Grissom of Frankfort. The tree, capped by a giant star, sits at street level, in front of the Capitol steps. Troy Perry of the Frankfort Plant Board is helping get it ready.“It’s just tedious, having to go out and back every limb,” said Perry. “It’s just a tedious process, but it’s not too bad. And it gets you in the spirit!”Governor and First Lady Beshear will light the tree Saturday night after leading the annual Frankfort Jaycees Christmas Parade down Capitol Avenue.
