Gail Collins To Speak In Louisville Thursday

New York Times national columnist Gail Collins speak tomorrow night at the Louisville Free Public Library.Collins will discuss her new book, As Texas Goes…, which looks at how Texas has historically influenced federal government policies but in recent years has been a hotbed of anti-Washington sentiment.Collins said she decided to write the book after attending a Tea Party rally in 2009."You saw that in Texas so much, there were so many of these demonstrations, so much anger against the federal government.  And I kept thinking, of all places, why is Texas so angry?   They have been setting the agenda for the last 30 years," she said.Gail Collins will speak at 7:00pm Thursday at the library’s main branch.   The complete WFPL interview with Collins can be heard here.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
