Gas Price Investigation Picks Up

Some Kentucky elected leaders are talking more about an investigation into high gas prices.Attorney General Jack Conway is already working with Governor Steve Beshear and Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson to find out why gas in Louisville is higher than it is in the rest of the state.Conway echoes the governor’s contention that the federal mandate to use reformulated gasoline, or RFG, in Louisville is not to blame.“It’s certainly peculiar that the Louisville market is showing reformulated gas prices 18 to 20 cents higher than Northern Kentucky for example, significantly higher than St. Louis, which also uses RFG," he says.Conway is also working with Congressman John Yarmuth to investigate possible collusion among fuel wholesalers and oil speculators.
