Goodwill To Change Donation Policy

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky says effective December 1, it will no longer accept donations of computers and televisions. The organization sells donated items to fund job programs for people with disabilities or other disadvantages.Vice-President of Development David Cobb says it has become cost-prohibitive to handle computer and TVs."Goodwill hates to turn away any donation, however computers are really becoming more difficult for us to sell, and more and more we're being forced to find alternative places to dispose of those computers, which creates a great cost to our agency," he said.Cobb predicts there will soon be a glut of outdated television sets, with the changeover to an all-digital signal coming early next year.He says Goodwill will encourage donors to dispose of the items at the Louisville Waste Reduction Center, where they can be recycled.
