Governor Beshear Returns From India

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear is back from a whirlwind economic development trip to India, and as Kentucky Public Radio reports, he brings good news.He left Saturday and returned Tuesday, but Gov. Beshear says the trip to India was well worth the time, effort and money.  He says UFLEX, Ltd., a flexible packaging company from New Delhi will open a manufacturing facility in Elizabethtown.“If you go into your grocery store, many of things you’ll pull off the shelf," he says "including things like chips and soap, that packaging surrounding that product may will have been made by that company.”Beshear says this will be the company’s first U.S. facility.  It’s a multi-million dollar investment that the governor says will provide hundreds of jobs.  Beshear is confident company officials will help sell Kentucky to other Indian companies interested in opening U.S. facilities."It will have a great economic impact on Kentucky," he says "but the additional importance of this is the fact that locating a company like this in Kentucky, we think, will open up the gates for  more Indian companies to locate in Kentucky."UFLEX currently has facilities in India, Dubai, Egypt, Mexico and Poland.  Beshear left for India on Saturday and returned on Tuesday.  It was his second recent economic development trip to India.  His first visit was last fall.
