Grayson Pushes for Campaign Finance Bill

From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighKentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson is trying to keep alive an omnibus campaign finance bill awaiting final action in the 2009 General Assembly.Only two days remain in the 2009 legislative session and the final days are usually reserved for veto overrides, if needed. But Secretary of State Trey Grayson is hoping House leaders will allow a vote on a comprehensive campaign finance bill that already has unanimous Senate approval. “We want to have more electronic filing," says Grayson.  "We also want to add an additional report for our fall elections. Right now, the first report is due about a month before the election. We want to add an additional report two months before the election, so we can get some of the donors’ identities out.”The campaign finance bill has been around since 2006, but has never passed both houses. Also still pending final action this session is the governor’s economic incentives bill and a supplemental spending bill. The 2009 session resumes next Thursday.
