Gregg Says Hoosiers Are Tired of "Divisive Politics"

As WFPL's Rick Howlett reported earlier, former Democratic Indiana House Speaker John Gregg has announced his bid for governor of Indiana. The 56-year-old attorney is known for his folksy sense of humor and homespun personality, which explains him sitting on a porch swing with a pitcher of iced tea while making the announcement about starting an exploratory committee. In the video announcement, notice that Gregg reaches out to voters in both parties, saying Republicans and Democrats should work together to unite the state. Recently, Indiana has gone decisively for the GOP in statewide races.“They want a leader who will bring us together, not divide us,” Gregg said.Political observers have already noted that is a dig against Congressman Mike Pence, who considered a partisan figure and the likely GOP nominee for governor.
