Ground Broken On Equine Center

Construction is underway for a new equestrian center in Eastern Jefferson County. The $3.5 million facility will employ 25 stable workers and offer year-round equine activities. The center is being paid for with private funds, but mayor’s spokesperson Chris Poynter says the city has struck a deal with the center’s owner, Betsy Webb.“We’re going to bring the 100 mile Louisville Loop through her property, so she’s given us an easement to allow us to come through," says Poynter. "So the public will actually be able to come through her property on the loop.”In exchange for allowing the biking and walking trail to pass through the center, Webb will be allowed to use several acres of nearby parkland for equine activities. The center is scheduled to open this summer.
