Ground Broken On New Habitat For Humanity Headquarters

by Sheila AshRenovations are underway on several buildings in the Portland neighborhood for a new headquarters and construction center for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville.Executive Director Rob Locke says the new headquarters will help Habitat double the number of houses they build each year."Nearly two years ago the Habitat board and staff realized the size and composition of Habitat’s physical plant was a serious limitation to our ability to help more families build more homes," he says. "Construction needed more room, ReStore needed to expand."The facility, which is scheduled for completion by next summer, will house administration, development and family services and outreach. The project is funded with private donations as well as federal and local government grants.
