Growing Season to End in Kentucky With First Freeze

Much of Kentucky, including the Louisville area, is under its first freeze watch of the season. It was originally posted for late Monday/early Tuesday, but is now in effect for late Tuesday/early Wednesday.Forecaster Nathan Foster with the National Weather Service in Louisville says cold air moved into the area Sunday night."We’ve got some cool, dry air coming down from Canada, swinging down from the northwest, basically it’s a low pressure system, but it’s going to be fairly dry and we’re not expecting much in the way of precipitation, but it is going to change our temperatures quite a bit," says Foster.Foster says the cold overnight temperatures mean the end of growing season for Kentucky farmers. But – he says – the freeze is happening at the usual time of year, so farmers should be prepared. He says temperatures will likely rebound a little by the end of the week.
