H1N1 Vaccination Clinics Begin Wednesday

Two days of H1N1 vaccinations begin Wednesday outside of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The health department says at least 15,000 doses of the vaccine will be available for distribution over the course of two days. The shots and nasal spray are intended for those at high risk of contracting H1N1 flu or for flu complications, but others won't be turned away. This will be the first mass H1N1 vaccination in Louisville and officials are expecting a large crowd.Physician and University of Louisville Associate Professor Dr. Bridget Hittepole says she's been fielding a lot of inquiries about H1N1 illness and prevention over the past several months."We've had calls since at least September, maybe even August (from people asking) 'do you have the H1N1 vaccine, are you going to get it? So i think people are....worried about the vaccine, can they get it, when can they get it, do they need it," Hittepole said. The clinics will be held tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am to 8:00pm at the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium parking lots off Floyd Street south of Central Avenue.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
