Health Department To Begin Offering Flu Shots

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will begin taking appointments for flu shots at four sites this week. The appointments start Thursday at the Dixie Health Center, the Neighborhood Place East Health Center on Barret Avenue, the Middletown Health Center and the Newburg Health Center.Walk-in clinics will also be held at those sites and the NIA Center starting in mid-September. Health department spokesman Dave Langdon says officials don’t expect any vaccine shortages during the flu season. "The CDC informs us that there will be adequate supplies of flu vaccine this year, so I think we should be in good shape," he said. A nine-week campaign of free immunizations at Jefferson County Public Schools will begin October 13.
