Hearing Held In Firehouse Dispute

A decision is expected Friday in a suit filed by some residents of Old Louisville to reopen the Engine Seven Firehouse.Mayor Jerry Abramson announced last month that the facility would be shut down in order to help close a $20 million budget shortfall. The residents have asked for a temporary injunction to reopen the 138 year old facility on Sixth Street, saying its closure will place them at risk.Attorney Oliver Barber argued on their behalf during a two-hour hearing in Jefferson Circuit Court Tuesday."I'm real pleased," Barber said afterward.     "I think the judge is going to seriously look at our legalsituation and i know that he's listening hard to our factual situation."City officials say there are other fire stations in the area that can provide adequate protection to people who were served by Engine Seven.
