High Winds, Severe Storms, Tornado Watch Today

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch until 4pm today for the entire WFPL listening area. A tornado watch means severe thunderstorms are likely, and there could be isolated tornadoes, possibly.The NWS has also issued a High Wind Advisory until 8pm tonight. Forecasters expect sustained southerly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts in excess of 45 mph. There could be some minor tree damage. High profile vehicles on east to west roads should use extra caution as driving may be difficult. As of 8am, radar shows a line of severe thunderstorms is moving across Indiana and Illinois, entering western Kentucky. This line of storms has a history of producing damaging winds, with one gust measured at 78 mph just south of Saint Louis. New storms are developing just ahead of this line... and these storms have the potential to produce damaging winds and isolated tornadoes as they mature through the morning hours.The line is expected to move into the Interstate 65 corridor by 11 am.
