Highlander SUV Production Moves to Indiana

The Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana will soon stop making Tundra pickup trucks and start making Highlander SUVs. The company announced today it’s consolidating its Tundra production in San Antonio, Texas. Toyota selected a plant in Mississippi to start producing Prius Hybrids. That plant was making Highlanders, so the SUV production is moving to Indiana. Toyota official Mike Goss says it was an easy decision.“That’s an award-winning facility, we’ve got an awesome team there, it’s just that right now we’re subjected to the economy and gasoline prices, so moving Highlander there is just outstanding news for the long term prospects of that facility. We’re very excited about it,” says Goss.Goss says Highlander sales have remained strong, despite high gas prices.
