Hillary Clinton Speaks at UofL's McConnell Center

by Rick HowlettThe effort to prevent nuclear proliferation and nuclear terrorism were the focus of an address today in Louisville by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She spoke to about one thousand people at an event organized by the McConnell Center. Clinton says controlling nuclear arms has long been an issue supported by both Democrats and Republicans, and worldwide cooperation is more important than ever in keeping raw nuclear materials from falling into the hands of terrorists. She says an international summit to that effect will be held next Tuesday in Washington."And we expect announcements of further progress on this issue, but we will also hear from other countries that are helping us keep a very close watch on anyone we think could be part of a network that could lead to the sale of or transfer of nuclear material to Al Qaeda or other terrorists organizations."Clinton spoke for about 30 minutes then took several audience questions.
