Hiring Begins For Census Jobs In Jeffersonville

The U.S. Census Bureau has begun the process of filling hundreds of temporary jobs at its National Processing Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana.Center Director David Hackbarth says in preparation for the 2010 census, the bureau is now hiring for 200 clerk positions that have a starting pay of about 13-dollars per hour, and there will be many more openings."We anticipate advertising for 500 what are called data transcribers and these will be data entry operators primarily, and that represents phase two of our operation. Those folks we'll be bringing in in the fall, but we'll begin that recruiting in what I believe is early July,"Hackbarth says the center will eventually hire as many as 2,000 people to help with the census in Jeffersonville. The facility already has a permanent workforce of about 2,100.More information about Census 2010 jobs is available here.
