From WFPL's Ashley CottrellAfter being dark for more than a quarter of a century, the historic State Theater in Elizabethtown will soon reopen following an extensive rehabilitation project. Sam Young of the Elizabethtown Heritage Council says the Art Deco theater has been painstakingly restored to the way it looked when it was built in 1942.“Once it reopens it won’t just be a movie house anymore, it’s going to be a multi-faceted event space. We’re going to be able to have live teleconferencing. We are going to be able to have live concerts,” Young said. The State Theatre will reopen in early May, possibly with a screening of “ET: The Extraterrestrial," which was the last film shown when it shut down in 1982.(Image from www.historicstatetheatre.org)
