Honda Begins Acura Production at Indiana Factory

Honda has begun production of a new Acura model at its Greensburg, Indiana plant.Company officials and Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman took part in a ceremony today at the plant as workers began building the Acura ILX. The model's gas-powered and gas-electric hybrid versions will be exclusively built at the Greensburg factory. The Honda plant about 90 miles northeast of Louisville opened in 2008. It roughly doubled its workforce last year by hiring nearly one thousand new employees when it added a second production shift.Until it started building the new Acura, the factory had only built Civic models. Honda is aiming the ILX as an entry-level car for its luxury Acura division, with pricing expected to start below $30,000.
