House Committee To Act On Slots Bill

From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighThe Kentucky House Appropriations and Revenue committee will act this afternoon on the video slots bill. Speaker Greg Stumbo predicts it will pass the committee, and receive a House floor vote tomorrow.“Hence the people of Kentucky will vote because they vote through their elected representatives," he says. "And we would hope the Senate would honor the commitment that they’ve made to allow the same thing to happen if we pass the bill down there.”Senate President David Williams has already warned the House about linking slots to education projects to win votes, but says he’ll wait and see what happens.“If it comes over here without earmarks, we’ll send it to a committee," says Williams. "And it will have hearings.”Williams still doubts the slots bill will pass the House, but Speaker Stumbo says support for the measure has risen since the unveiling of the education projects plan.
