HullabaLOU Organizers Preparing For New Challenges

by Gabe BullardChurchill Downs Entertainment officials say security and medical staff have prepared for new challenges this weekend for the HullabaLOU music festival. It begins Friday, and will be the first music festival hosted at the track. The three-day festival has different security and medical requirements than the Derby or Breeders' Cup. The crowd this weekend will be more mobile, and the temperatures will be higher.Spokesperson Carolyn McLean says first aid and security plans are in place, and will be scrutinized and updated for future events."Our team, at the end of the night, will be meticulously taking notes and reviewing them as soon as it's happening so that we can review them at the end of the festival, so that we know what we did right and what we can do better next year," she says.Organizers are not releasing ticket sales information this week, but at last check, more than 45 thousand had been sold. CDE had hoped for 90 thousand, and is counting on heavy last-minute sales.
