Humana and UPS Wait to See Effects of Bridge Closure

Humana and UPS both say they’ll continue to monitor the effect the Sherman Minton Bridge closure has on their operations.Humana has around 1,900 Southern Indiana employees, most of whom work in Louisville, said Humana spokesman Marvin Hill. While it’s still too early to determine how many employees’ schedules will be affected, Hill said Humana will be listening to employees to make necessary changes to operations in the coming days.“We’re just really taking a look at what kind of impact this may have on the region and taking it from there,” said Hill.Humana will be flexible with their associates, said Hill, including “looking at working at home arrangements and even possibly looking at operating hours.”UPS is also waiting to see the effects the closure has on its routes. As of Monday, the company hadn't planned to make any changes to operating schedules or delivery routes. But officials will be adjusting some interstate tractor trailer movement to accommodate the closure. The Sherman Minton Bridge will be closed indefinitely.
