Indiana Commission To Review Challenge To Secretary Of State Vote

The Indiana State Recount Commission will meet Sunday afternoon to consider challenges to last month's election for Secretary of State. The State Democratic Party says Secretary of State-elect Charlie White, a Republican, used his ex-wife's address on his paperwork during the May primary. The commission will hear arguments from both sides on whether White's victory is legitimate. They could then either re-enforce his victory, or call for a special election. The commission could also delay a ruling and deliberate further. Todd Darroca, a spokesperson for the current Secretary of State, says the commission has three weeks to make a ruling."Indiana state law states that a final determination in the contest petition for the Secretary of State's race, for that particular race, must be made before January 1st, 2011," he says. The meeting will be broadcast live online through the state website.
