Indiana General Assembly Winding Down

The Indiana General Assembly is scheduled to adjourn in a few days, but lawmakers still have two major issues to address: passing a state budget and fixing Indiana's bankrupt unemployment insurance system.Governor Mitch Daniels says the budget plans passed by the House and Senate spend too much and don't sufficiently address expected drops in revenue.Daniels says he hopes the differences can be resolved without a special session, and he's willing to be flexible."I am focused almost solely on protecting taxpayers by avoiding this cliff and by avoiding the burning through of our reserves and forcing a tax increase, probably before we know it," Daniels said Friday. The last day of the Indiana General Assembly is Wednesday.
