Indiana Preparing Hunting Database

The Indiana state government is creating a database of hunters in order to reduce the damage wild deer cause to crops.In July and August, hunters can sign up with the state as being available for deer population control. Landowners who are having problems with deer can then call the Department of Natural Resources and be connected to a hunter.Gary Langell is coordinating the program. He says the database is just for communication and does not change any restrictions on hunting."That depends on the county that they're hunting in," he says. "We have various quotas on antler-less deer for each county. So it just depends on which county."This is the first year for the program. Langell says the database will be updated annually.
