Indiana Rep. Cheatham Won't Seek Re-election

From the Associated Press: A veteran Democratic state representative from southern Indiana won’t seek re-election this year, meaning nearly one-fourth of the current House Democrats have decided they won't try to return to their seats. Rep. Dave Cheatham of North Vernon says he’s changed his mind about seeking a new term, citing the contentious political atmosphere.Cheatham is among the handful of Democrats who haven't participated in the House boycotts this month over the Republican-backed right-to-work proposal, although he took part in last year's five-week walkout.Cheatham is a retired teacher and has represented the 69th District since 2006 after also serving in the House from 1984 to 1992.At least eight other House Democrats have announced plans to retire or seek other offices this year. Republicans now have a 60-40 House majority.
