Indiana Secretary of State's Defense Is Plausible, Says IU Professor

An Indiana University law professor says the case against Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White could be difficult for prosecutors.White was indicted Thursday on charges of voter fraud, perjury, theft and financial fraud. Many of the charges stem from White's voter registration in the May primary. He used his ex-wife's address instead of his then-new address in a different precinct.Professor Craig Bradley says White's defense—that he made a mistake because of his busy schedule—is plausible. Bradley expects prosecutors to argue that White should have known better because of his involvement in area politics.Governor Mitch Daniels has called on White to step down until a verdict is reached. White has refused.Additional information for this story provided by the Associated Press
