Indiana Senate Committee Approves Redistricting Plan

A Republican-led Indiana Senate committee has approved a redistricting plan for the chamber, though Democrats say it unfairly dilutes African-American and Hispanic voters. The Senate Elections Committee approved the plan with a 6-2 vote along party lines Thursday. The panel also proposed new district boundaries for Indiana's nine congressional seats. Democratic Senator Tim Lanane says the GOP plan packs minority voters into fewer districts, while Republicans say their plans are fair and comply with voting rights laws.(Additional information from the Associated Press)
