Inspectors to Look at Louisville Spans Thursday

Bridge inspections could make Thursday morning traffic a little slower in the Louisville area.Indiana and Kentucky bridge inspectors will be looking at the Kennedy Bridge and the Sherman-Minton Bridge on Thursday. Lane closures could start as early as eight a.m.Indiana Bridge Inspection Engineer Bill Dittrich says the inspections are mostly superficial.“These are not really meant to be in-depth inspections," says Dittrich. "They’re just a walkover, so we all have a general feeling of the bridge, we talk about the condition, what work was done over the last year, what work we intend to do as far as repairs or inspections or testing.”Dittrich says the annual inspections are required as part of the legal agreement regarding upkeep and funding of the bridges.
