James Hosting Public Forum With EPA Concerning Black Leaf Site

Louisville Metro Councilman David James, D-6, will host a neighborhood forum for residents to discuss the latest information surrounding health concerns involving the Black Leaf plant site.Last month, around 50 homes bordering the former chemical plant in the Park Hill neighborhood were tested and found to have carcinogenic chemicals in all of them. As WFPL's Erica Peterson reported, the Environmental Protection Agency conducted a new round of testing that revealed levels of heavy metals, pesticides and other toxic substances on private property."It is important for the community to be updated on what has been discovered with the Black Leaf site," says James, whose district includes the Black Leaf site. "There have been many reports about testing of homes around the area and that is why I have asked the experts to talk to the community about what has been found."The forum will take place at Wheatley Elementary School, located at 1107 South 17 Street on June 14 beginning at 6:00 p.m., and will include representatives from the EPA.
