A Greater Clark County Schools principal who is also running for Jefferson County’s school board has been placed on administrative leave. An email was sent to the media Thursday evening (below) saying James Sexton was not in the office but that no disciplinary action had been taken against him. The school district has not explained why he was put on leave. Mr. James Sexton, Jeffersonville High School Principal, is not in the office. Speculating about the matter would be inappropriate. No disciplinary action has been taken against Mr. Sexton. Greater Clark County Schools has no further comment.According to reports from the News and Tribune, Sexton said he was also not told why he was put on leave or when he would return and he maintains he’s done nothing wrong.Greater Clark board member Nancy Kraft told the paper that Superintendent Andrew Melin called her Wednesday night and said that Sexton would not return until an investigation was complete.Sexton is one of five candidates running for the Jefferson County School Board’s District 7 seat. He was hired by Greater Clark County Schools in 2009 after working for a number of years in JCPS administration.
