JCPS Middle and High School Showcase Starts Friday

Jefferson County Public Schools will host its annual middle and high school showcase at the end of this week and families can begin applying for schools the following Monday. The showcase gives families a chance to visit with schools where they’re eligible to apply and to meet school staff and ask questions. The elementary school showcase has been moved up to Nov. 17 in an effort to prepare the district and families for student assignment changes taking effect next year.District officials say families will have more time to adjust to their new school and it will ensure JCPS administration implements the changes smoothly.Under the new plan around 2,000 fewer elementary students will be bused shorter distances and new diversity criteria will begin recognizing kindergarten and ESL students in the count. Also under the changes elementary students will have fewer schools to choose from--on average six, down from 13.The district has also moved to online registration for schools. Applications for all grade levels will be due by January 11.The two-day middle and high school showcase begins Friday at the Kentucky International Convention Center.Click here to see the online catalogs for JCPS schools.
