As the new academic year gets underway, Jefferson County Public Schools is offering a free workshop to assist parents in helping their children make the transition to middle school.Spokesperson Susan Shortt says there are a variety of informational seminars."We offer a little bit of everything from support for reading, writing, math. We also have experts there that can help you with paying for college because you know it’s never too early to start thinking about those kinds of things," she said.The workshop, called Parent University, is Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m. at Gheens Academy, 4425 Preston Highway.
