Kennedy, Clark Memorial Bridges Found to be Structurally Sound

Kentucky bridge inspectors have finished examiningLouisville’s remaining two bridges and haven’t found any structural problems. After the discovery of a crack closed the Sherman Minton Bridge last week, there were worries that similar issues might be found on the already over-capacity Kennedy and Clark Memorial Bridges, but that wasn’t the case.An average of 70,000 cars crossed the Sherman Minton Bridge every day, according to tests done earlier this year. Those cars have now been routed across the Kennedy and Clark Bridges, which together carry another 135,000 cars every day.Kentucky state inspectors scaled the Kennedy Bridge on Wednesday and examined the Clark Bridge on Thursday from an underside catwalk. The two bridges are already over-capacity, but they didn’t find any structural problems.
