Kentuckians Urged To Seek Tax Credits

Gov. Steve Beshear is encouraging low-to-middle-income Kentuckians to apply for federal Earned Income Tax Credits. Beshear says a family with two parents and two children can earn up to $45,000 a year, and still receive refunds of more than five thousand dollars. Beshear says there are free tax preparation sites around the state to assist Kentuckians with the forms. “Kentuckians can visit a website to view the list of approximately 200 tax preparation sites located in more than 80 counties all across the commonwealth,” he said. In 2008, Kentuckians filed more than 400,000 E-I-T-C claims for a total of $870 million in benefits statewide. The average credit was just over $2,100
