Kentucky Army National Guard Exceeds Recruitment Goals

For seventh straight year, the Kentucky Army National Guard has exceeded its recruitment goals. The Guard now has troop strength of just over 73-hundred men and women. That’s up from less than six thousand in 2003.Adjutant General Edward Tonini says the recruiting successes could lead to new responsibilities.“As the economic times change, we anticipate that some states are going to have a more difficult time making their mission and as a result, missions will fall to the stations that are robust and that can prove, time and time again, are able to meet their mission, like Kentucky," he says.Tonini says the Kentucky Air National Guard, for the second straight year, also exceeded its recruitment goals. During ceremonies on the steps of the State Capitol, Tonini praised the efforts of more than 100 Guard recruiters from across the commonwealth.
