Kentucky Beats Kansas To Win Eighth National Title

The Kentucky Wildcats are the champions of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament. UK defeated Kansas 67-59 tonight in New Orleans to claim the school’s eighth national title. Kentucky led by as many as 18 points. The Jayhawks cut the lead to five late in the second half, but UK held on to claim the victory.UK All-American Anthony Davis (pictured) was held to six points, but grabbed 16 rebounds, blocked six shots and handed out five assists. Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
