Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie Objects to Plastic Gun Ban

Kentucky Fourth District Congressman Thomas Massie says he was the sole voice vote against a 25-year ban on firearms that can evade metal detectors and X-ray machines.First passed in 1988, the Undetectable Firearms Act is set to expire on December 9. It bans the possession, manufacturing and selling of any so-called plastics gun, which can be built using 3-D printers and can go undetected by security devices.Extending the law was considered a no-brainer by observers who noted its re-authorization was put forth by a Republican lawmaker. Democrats have flirted with tightening the law to no avail, but Massie made sure constituents knew he was against the basic 10-year extension of the law. From Twitter:

Massie's office has not responded to our request for comment, but the Republican freshman is known for his strong libertarian views that has earned him the nickname "Mr. No" in Washington.Gun control advocates were quick to point out this is the only piece of gun control legislation to receive a vote in the GOP-controlled House in the wake of the Newtown massacre.Asked about the plastic gun ban, Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth of Kentucky, said other regulations are needed but this is a common sense measure that both parties can easily get behind."I don't think you want to be on the other side of this," he said.Watch:
