Kentucky Derby Festival Unveils 'Green' Pegasus Pin

Kentucky Derby Festival organizers are taking small steps toward making the two-week festival more environmentally friendly. Festival President Mike Berry says such steps are difficult with such a large event."The challenges of clearing and cleaning up venues for events such as Thunder and the Pegasus Parade, has not always been conducive in implementing a realistic recycling program. In fact, it’s tough to get people to throw their garbage away, much less divide it and recycle it," said Berry. But – Berry says they will be using more recycling cans throughout the Pegasus Parade and Thunder Over Louisville. This year they’ve also unveiled a new Pegasus pin – it’s the color green, and it’s biodegradable. Pegasus pins are on sale starting today.
