Kentucky FOP Endorses Williams

The Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Republican state Senate President David Williams in the race for governor. The union represents more than 9,300 law enforcement officers across the state and their nod is coveted among political candidates. Earlier this week, the state FOP endorsed Republican attorney general candidate Todd P'Pool over Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway, who had received their endorsement in previous races.FOP President Michael "Spike" Jones said Williams would represent the interests of Kentucky law enforcement. "We are pleased to offer our support and endorsement to Senator Williams in his bid for governor of Kentucky. He has been an adamant supporter of law enforcement and we are optimistic that he will be an advocate for us on key issues," Jones said in a news release. "We appreciate the backing he has given law enforcement during his career and feel very confident that we will have a seat at the table when his administration is formulating policies that affect law enforcement officers in the future."Williams is running against Democratic Governor Steve Beshear and independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith.
