Kentucky's Creation Museum Hosts Debate With TV's Bill Nye ('The Science Guy')

Evolution is being pitted against creationism in a debate Tuesday night between TV personality and Bill Nye and Kentucky Creation Museum president Ken Ham.

The debate has garnered national attention and some scientists have even criticized Nye for taking part in the conversation.  But Ham says it’s an important dialog to have, since creationism is often dismissed by scientists. He says he supports modern science and processes that can measured, but he says when discussing the origins of life, it becomes less clear. “It’s really a clash of two philosophical world views because we have two different starting points and unless we’re prepared to question our starting points of course we’re not going to even get to the basis of the argument," Ham says. The Kentucky Creation Museum is still working to secure funds to build an amusement park. Ham says he’s not using the debate to raise money for that effort, but acknowledges it has already drawn attention to the museum.
