KY Counties Seeking Poll Workers

Many Kentucky counties are seeking poll workers for the November 4th election. Each precinct must have at least four election workers, but with an above-average turnout expected in November, many are seeking additional staff.Secretary of State spokesperson Les Fugate says the high-profile primary in May put many precincts to the test.“In the primary election, we had a great turnout for precinct election officers and did really, really well, particularly in Jefferson County where we needed a lot more poll workers than we did in any other location throughout the state," he says.Fugate says many poll workers are retirees and choose not to return to the job as they get older. Any registered voter who has not recently changed party affiliations can apply to be a poll worker at their county clerk’s office. Workers are paid a minimum of $60.
