The search for a new Kentucky Education Commissioner continues. The state school board has a two-day retreat in Frankfort this week, where it will receive an update on the Education Commissioner’s search. Lisa Gross of the Education Department says a Florida search firm is already running ads and screening resumes. “Not sure if we have a good number on how many folks have applied. Of course, the rumors are flying fast and furious. The board wants anyone who I s interested in the position - a Kentuckian or someone out of state - to apply, because they want a good pool of candidates,” Gross said. The board plans to have a new commissioner onboard by the beginning of August. Former commissioner Jon Draud resigned earlier this year for health reasons. For now, Elaine Farris is serving as interim commissioner.
