Letter Carriers Preparing for National Food Drive

Letter carriers in Louisville are hoping people along their routes will leave some food by their mailboxes on Saturday. They’re making preparations this week for a national food drive held annually on the second Saturday in May.Valley Station letter carrier Bob Bracy says last year they collected about 190-thousand pounds of food in Louuisville– all of it benefits the Dare to Care Food Bank.“It’s enough food to keep Dare to Care going through the summer months, in fact they’ll tell us their cupboards are about empty. And we’ll take care of the Kids Café and make sure the kids are fed while they’re out of school up until about October," says Bracy. "So this food drive is very, very important to the community.”Bracy says all people have to do to participate is leave non-perishable food items in a bag next to their mailboxes on Saturday, and their letter carrier will see that it gets to Dare to Care.
