Louisville Hosts Summit on Reclaiming Vacant Properties

A summit will be held this week in Louisville to help government leaders and citizens from several states learn more about reclaiming vacant properties.Jennifer Leonard with the National Vacant Properties Campaign based in Washington, D.C. says the number of vacant properties is on the rise.“What’s different over the last year and the last two years is that we in the campaign has experienced before is it’s not the typical communities that everyone thinks of as having a lot of vacant properties, a lot of abandonment," says Leonard.The campaign is teaming up with Metro Government and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis to talk about development opportunities that come with vacant properties – and why it’s important to communities.It starts today and continues through Wednesday at the Galt House.
