Louisville Man Pleads Guilty To Presidential Threat

By Rick HowlettA Louisville man faces up to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to making a Presidential threat.The U.S. Attorney's Office says 27 year old Johnny Logan Spencer admitted in his plea today (Tues) that he threatened to assassinate President Obama in a poem he wrote called "The Sniper." It was posted on a white supremacist website.Spencer is scheduled for sentencing in early November.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
