Louisville Surgeon Treating Patients In Haiti

A pediatric orthopaedic surgeon from Louisville will finish a nearly two-week stay this Friday in Haiti, where he's been treating people injured in the January 12 earthquake.Dr. Josh Meier (at left in photo) has been in the country since January 30, spending much on his time treating patients at Sacred Heart Hospital in Port au Prince. "There's a lot of dressing changes to do. There are still some surgeries to do, maybe revision-type things, managing of wounds, stuff like that," he said Monday morning.Meier, who came to Haiti with a medical team from Memphis, is a member of the staff at Kosair Children's Hospital. He says there appears to be plenty of emergency medical supplies arriving in Haiti, but getting them distributed has been a challenge.Meier is blogging about his work in Haiti.     It can be seen here.(Photo from www.NortonHealthcare.com/DrMeier)
