Man In Standoff May Have Escaped From Corrections

A man who died this morning in a standoff with law officials is believed to have escaped from a Louisville Metro Corrections facility.Corrections spokesperson Pam Windsor says U.S. Marshals were called after it was realized a prisoner was mistakenly released last night."The way we work at corrections is a judge is the one who authorizes everyone's release," she says. "As far as what we're trying to determine here is we believe he manipulated his release and we're trying to find out how that occurred."The prisoner was fatally shot in a standoff this morning in downtown Louisville. It's possible the shot was self-inflicted.
