Many Precincts Need Election Workers For Primaries

But in many counties, there aren't yet enough precinct workers to staff polling places.Each precinct needs at least four officers, and the number of Democratic officers must equal the number of Republican officers. Secretary of State spokesperson Les Fugate says the latter requirement is causing shortages in some counties."It's not that they don't have enough precinct election officers total, but they need certain individuals of political affiliation in certain political counties, specifically those that are dominated by one political party or another."Kentuckians interested in becoming a precinct officer should apply with their county clerk. Officers will be paid at least $60 for working Election Day, and will receive additional payment for attending a mandatory training session.
